Air conditioner buying guide: tonnage, star rating and inverter explained
By Pappu, Pappu Electric Stores · Published · Updated

How to pick the right AC tonnage for your room, why inverter models save on bills, and what the star rating really means.
Room size decides tonnage. As a rough guide, a room up to about 120 sq ft suits a 1 ton AC, 120 to 180 sq ft suits 1.5 ton, and larger rooms need 2 ton. A room with strong afternoon sun or many people may need one step up.
Inverter ACs adjust their speed instead of switching on and off, so they hold the temperature better, make less noise and use less electricity. They cost more upfront but usually pay back if you run the AC for many hours.
A higher star rating means lower running cost. Ask us to compare a 3 star and a 5 star model for your usage, and we can help arrange installation.
